Root Canal Therapy Procedure
1. Infected tooth with abscess in the root.
2. Files are used to clean out the infection.
3. Canals are washed and dried.
4. Canals are filled with gutta percha.
5. Opening is sealed with filling. In some cases, a post is inserted to support the crown.
6. Crown is cemented onto the rebuilt tooth.
We work hard to ensure your root canal treatment is as efficient and comfortable as possible. Dr. Nieto will make sure you understand the treatment so there are no surprises, and she ensures that the affected area of your mouth is fully anesthetized so you can feel at ease during the procedure.
Dr. Nieto uses a high-tech rotary instrument to clean the interior canals of your teeth faster and more efficiently than can be done with traditional hand tools. The rotary instrument is also quieter and does not make the loud, discomforting sounds that traditional hand tools make, resulting in a more pleasant patient experience.
Keeping Patients Comfortable
To ensure your comfort during root canal therapy, we provide local anesthesia in addition to nitrous oxide, if needed. You will be able to drive home after your treatment, and most of Dr. Nieto’s patients are comfortable enough to return to their normal daily routine immediately after root canal therapy.
